When people stop paying attention

What to do when someone stops paying you attention

Do you ever notice someone 'tuning out', not listening to you as you speak??? Tune into your own sound. Listen to the tones, the pitches, the volume of your voice today. What dominates? What sounds don't you make? Play with high and low....how do you feel if you consciously make your voice deeper? Or go even a bit higher? Play with making your voice brighter (a little louder), then a bit softer. Your vocal quality impacts directly on those you talk to all day long....and it conveys your confidence or lack of it and just how authentic you are about the words/content you are saying.

Actors train and train vocally to be able to express the whole gamut of human emotion - consciously. Everyone else is expressing too....but just how conscious of their impact are they? How conscious of your vocal impact are you? Did you know your voice can turn people off? Equally, it can really draw them in, engage them, 'turn them on!'Most people use their voices every day unconsciously. Yet you can do more with your vocal power...
Play around with raising your voice and filling your lounge room with sound. Choose a quote or something motivational that you love and bellow it - fill your room with your volume.

Next, try whispering it and feel in your body the effect of your own sound waves. Try saying it really slow and steady and over enunciate all the consonants, exaggerate them and feel their crispness.
Offer it out loud at breakneck speed. Your voice draws me in or pushes me away - on a subconscious level. So get to know your voice and fall in love with the whole range of sounds, pitches, volumes you can actually make. And if you are keen to improve and enrich your vocal power get in touch with me.

  • Go loud, go soft.
  • Try slow and steady, go fast!
  • Tune in and see how you feel with each exercise.
